Turkey Holidays 2010 Summer

So, summer holidays have again arrived and this is the time where we all are looking for the answer to the same question. Where to go for holidays this summer? The main thing which we are searching for is that we want a place which is worth going to and the place which offers most from our money? If you are also looking for some cheap holidays abroad then this makes us leave the entire euro zone. The countries which are included in it are Spain, Portugal, Greece and Italy. These countries are not cheap not only because of the currency rates but also because of the cost which EU membership imposes. This means that there is only one country which is left having all the characteristics of a good and cheap holiday spot like good cuisine, good climate, good places which is Turkey. The Turkish Lira offers much more as compared to Euro in exchange of the Britain’s Great British Pound and allows you to spend effectively. Turkey is also very near to UK and the flight distance and time is very less as compared to many expensive destinations.

Straddling Asia and Europe, Turkey is at the separating point of both the continents and represents a unique blend of both the civilizations. Ancient history, mouth-watering cuisine, golden sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, all await you in Turkey. Wherever you stay, you will get to see some of the most attractive beaches. Throughout the summer season, the big Turkish coastline is blessed with blazing sunshine and hot and dry weather. The Turkish countryside also hosts significant ancient treasures including the classical ruins of Ephesus. Resorts like Bodrum offer plenty of good shopping opportunities and a frentic nightlife. There are various hotels available there from 5-star to 2-star to suit your economical needs. Overall, Turkey offers excellent value for your money.

Holidays in Turkey

It's widely said that Turkey has more and better preserved Greek and Roman archaeological sites than Greece and Italy combined. The landscape is simply riddled with ruins, many of which are virtually untouched. You can literally stroll through an olive grove and stumble upon a Roman temple still standing proud, and have the place all to yourself. Many people say one of Turkey's great charms is that it is like Greece was some thirty years ago.

The third fantastic thing about Turkey is the landscape. About three and a half times the size of Britain, it has almost the same population, leaving vast areas wide, empty, and free. Add to that soaring mountain ranges, brilliant while sunlight, and a vast coastline stretching along three seas, the Black Sea, the Aegean, and the Mediterranean, and you have a truly marvellous holiday destination.

Cesme in Izmir Turkey

CESME which means fountain in Turkish takes its name from the many springs found
around the area. The town was founded by Ionians around 1100 BC and is packed with
culture and history of Ionians, Lydians, Romans, Selcuk Turks and the Ottomans.
The impressive 700 year old fortress constructed by theGenoese and the Caravanserai
built by Suleyman the Magnificent in the 16th Century are the two major historical sights
of Cesme. This popular holiday resort is the most western tip of Turkey and is surrounded
on three sides by the clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea, ideal for watersports or boat
trips to the neighbouring islands.
The South Aegean once the commercial centre of the ancient world, a visit to
Ephesus and Pergamum are highlights of any visit to Turkey. Whilst Ephesus was
dedicated to the goddess Artemis, Pergamum was a sanctuary dedicated to the god
of health, Asclepios.
Other places of interest
• Izmir Archeological Museum • The Church of the Virgin Mary • Dilek Peninsula
National park • Miletus Roman Theatre • Didim Temple of Apollo • Lake Bafa
• Geyre (Aphrodisias)

Here some Turkey Holiday Reviews: "Our holiday was lovely - at least four stars. Everything ran very smoothly and efficiently, the hotel was great, our guide was excellent. Memorable things - well, there were many of them. The muezzin's call to prayer, amplified considerably, from the Blue Mosque which we could see (almost touch!) from our hotel window. It was a bit of a shock at first, because we happened to arrive on Mohammed's birthday, so there was extensive reading/chanting from the Koran until very late the night we arrived, and then the first call to prayer at about 0520 every morning (got used to that though). But marvellous. To look out from our hotel and see Aya Sofya and the Blue Mosque and Sultanahmet square was quite wonderful (certainly a very memorable aspect). And apart from the muezzin (which was of course only occasional and very brief, after the big event of the birthday - and we enjoyed hearing that strange, eerie and compelling call reverberating through the city at different times of day) it was very quiet. No traffic noise at night - incredible considering we were so central. Other memorable things - the gorgeous spring flowers everywhere throughout the city - beautiful. The friendliness of the people - we didn't feel at all harassed or intimidated by the 'hard sell' approach, because there was no aggression in it, just good nature, so it was easy to walk away with a smile. Watching a carpet weaver at work - an extra that our guide arranged for us - was absolutely wonderful, and to have the carpets displayed for us so professionally and knowledgeably was wonderful, too. This was in a 'proper' shop, not the bazaar. Of course we bought one..." 1/5/06 by R. Duerden

Oludeniz Beautiful Beach

The world famous and one of the most beautiful wonders in the world Ölüdeniz, worths travelling miles and miles, for the turquoise blue waters wonderful lagoon. The crysyal pure water of Ölüdeniz is so clean that it is almost cleaner than the water you drink at home -if we omit the salt-. Ölüdeniz consists of two parts: First part is Belcekiz or Belcegiz which lies too long through the bay to the lagoon. This part is the wavy part of Ölüdeniz. The second part is the real Ölüdeniz with the lagoon inside. This part is the calm and shallow part.
Ölüdeniz is 12 km. from Fethiye. Here, with all kinds of water sports (canoe, surf, skiing, banana, parashute), you can also play beach-volley.
All along the Belcekiz beach, -a bit more expensive- you can find everything to eat and drink. The bars and restaurants are everytime ready for your service. The place which is called the Blue Lagoon is a National Park, which is fee-payed passing. Again, there are lots of things to eat, drink, and again, full of entertainment like water sports and beach volley, showers and WC. Besides, Ölüdeniz, is one of the most ideal places in the world for Paragliding. To make this sport, you don't have to be experienced. All you have to do is, to choose which company to fly with, among lots of the agencies including Turkish Aeronautical Association. If you don't have a licence to fly, you will have your first experience with a licenced and experienced pilot. The pilots do everything for you. All you have to do is just to enjoy the beauties of Ölüdeniz and take lots of photographs from 1400-1700m. height. The flight takes about 30-45 mins. And will cost you about $100. Olu Deniz
